RE: My gas just dropped over 40 cents per gallon!
You're still paying for the gas. It just doesn't hurt as bad when they tack a couple of cents on each item in the store. Heck of a marketing tool. Nothing is free.
Yup, still paying for it -- at 10% less. Plus, funny as it may seem to you, I've noticed no price increases on any Kroger items I've bought since the promotion began. Yes, a good marketing tool, and you DO get something FREE. I paid them $1200 for $1320 worth of groceries/gas. You do the math and be a pessimist if you want to. I, and others, will enjoy the savings. But, thanks for your input just the same...:R
My gas just dropped over 40 cents per gallon!
If you've got Kroger grocery stores near you that sell gasoline also, you can buy Kroger gift cards, up to $1200 worth, and receive a 10% premium on them. Good for groceries and, yes, gasoline. Can't be used on Prescription drugs or booze. You need a Kroger Plus card, which is available on-the-spot, free, if you don't already have one. Just thought I'd share this with those of you that may have Kroger's but aren't aware of the promotion. You can only buy cards through the end of July, but then they're good indefinitely.
RE: Driving direction Ford Excel 2008
Owned an '07. Try 80psi rear, 55psi front, and 55# in the airbags. If that doesn't fix it, call or email PW. Their customer service is great. Good luck to you!
RE: Merging traffic
My cruise is usually at 55 mph and I let them work it out. Trailer or not people still aim for my door handle rather than the 300 yards or open space in front of or to the rear of me. :R
If the speed limit is 70, and most traffic is moving at 70, you should never have a problem at 55, in that it is the responsibility of the merging vehicle to accelerate to the point where he is AT OR JUST GREATER THAN the speed of the traffic flow. Would make for great merges if at least half of the drivers actually understood the principle. If a person is driving a vehicle that can only obtain 35 - 45 mph by the end of the merge ramp, driving needs to be confined to secondary roads, or get a vehicle that has the capability of executing a proper merge.
RE: Pet smell
Jim@HiTek
Your Nose has adjusted there is still an odour!
Leave Your rig Closed up tight for 2 Warm days in a row, then Open the door!
Like I said they can Mask the Odor ,but it will still come back!
robatthelake is absolutely right. Either the initial smell was very, very minor, or your nose has just adjusted to it. Being a car dealer I know that nothing, and I mean nothing, can permanently get rid of smoke odor. Taking robatthelake's suggestion one step further, leave your RV closed up, on 2 rainy or ultra-high humidity days, then ask somebody who's not used to the rig to smell it. Sorry, over 25 years of trying to get rid of smoke odors in some of our trade-ins makes me somewhat of an expert in this field. But, if it's fine with you, just enjoy!
RE: Some People Are Clueless
The funny thing about the Ridgeline is it gets 1mpg better than the Avalanche, but the Avy is a much better truck.

So YOU'RE the guy than thinks Chevy builds a superior quality product to Honda ...... I was wondering where you were!...........:h
RE: Some People Are Clueless
It's their rig. I'm sitting here trying very hard to be bothered by their sins, but haven't been successful. Maybe it doesn't concern me.
It probably would if you or someone in your family were riding next to them, knowing good and well than in an emergency situation they (and you) are screwed!
The photo was taken out on the east coast somewhere. I'm in Minnesota. If you see them headed my way let me know, and I'll try again to become concerned.
Thanks.
(But you guys on the eastern seaboard, keep an eye out for that Honda now, ya hear!)
It doesn't matter WHERE the photo was taken, in that I'll bet this isn't the only guy in the country that puts his 5000-lb capacity vehicle over the limit. As a matter of fact, I'll bet if you look long and hard enough, you can find the same problem even in Minnesota, and maybe even close to you!!!...............:E

RE: Are GM, Ford and Chrysler the Foreign cars of the future?
People like myself don't buy 'American-made' products primarily because they cost so much to drive. A good example is the fact that '07 Impala's are bringing $10,000 - $10,800 at auction right now (actual Manheim results), where similarly-equipped '07 Camry's with like mileage are bringing $16,000 - $17,000 at the same auctions (these cars cost pretty much the same when new). That's a no-brainer to me. Add to that the fact that the Camry is indeed American-made and it would take a fool to buy the models that nosedive in value. Even if quality were the same (which it is not), the buyer that uses his head at all will readily see the difference.
Further, many 'American' trucks are now built in Mexico, Canada, and even Brazil. Sure, still plenty built in this country, but don't assume that when you buy a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy/GMC that you're getting an American-built vehicle. Check the first digit of the VIN to be sure.
RE: Allegro Bus vs Newmar Kountry Star
The Bus is top-of-the-line, whereas the Kountry Star is Newmar's entry-level DP.
Just a slight correction. The Ventana is Newmar's lowest priced diesel pusher.
I could be wrong, but I thought the first year of the Ventana was 2006, and we're talking about 2004 models here, right?
RE: Allegro Bus vs Newmar Kountry Star
Comparing apples to apples you'd have to pit the Phaeton against the Kountry Star. The Bus is top-of-the-line, whereas the Kountry Star is Newmar's entry-level DP.
Based on past experience, if we were voting, I'd go with the Tiffin product. Good luck to you!
RE: Had to change forums today
You don't have to change forums. I can handle that for you. I know people. Just send me $2532.03 in cash or certified funds, and I'll see to it that you can visit any and all forums anytime you want to.
Seriously, congrats on your new purchase. Enjoy!!......:C
RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!
Actually, they do. They will respond to the change in your conversational tone.
And so will the person on the other end of the phone...
In the example he cited, they would indeed.
RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!
So, you see hands-free phone talking as a problem, but just how is that any different from carrying on a conversation with a fellow passenger in the car with you? Actually, it is very different. The person in the car with you has at least some situational awareness. The person in the car with you can see what is going on around you. The person on the other end of the phone, on the other hand (or in the other hand), has no such knowledge. That makes a BIG difference. The person on the phone can't say, "Dude, watch out for that truck!".
My grandchildren don't have situational awareness, and there's no problem carrying on conversations with them. Let's not split hairs. Hands-free phones are fine. Those of us in business need, want, and will continue to use such communication devices regardless. Everybody just needs to do two things: 1. Realize we're in the 21st century and adapt, and 2. Just use common sense (which, as the years go by, I find less and less 'common' in people!).
RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!
Now, take a few minutes and tell me all those horrible bad things about actually having and using only a hands free voice activated cell phone system when you are driving????? First tell me how a hands free device is actually better than talking on the phone without it? Study after study shows that it is not the holding of the phone that is the problem, it is the distraction of the phone call itself. In other words, requiring people to use a hands free device will solve nothing.
The same people will be doing just as many dumb moves on the highway as they did before, only now they will be doing it with both hands on the wheel.
So, you see hands-free phone talking as a problem, but just how is that any different from carrying on a conversation with a fellow passenger in the car with you? It's not, and we all do it all the time -- including you, I'm sure. Maybe thinking things out first would lead to more sensible replies.
RE: July 1st another stupid, ill thought out California Law!
So mentioning a good law about cellphones use turned into California bashing.
Shall I say "only on RV.net forum"?My view on the granola state is it would be a great place to live if 30 out of the 33 million people who live there would simply go away. It does have great climate, resources, etc., but there are just too dang many people there for me.
Not to mention the fact that if you sold the beautiful home where you now live and re-bought in CA, imagine the crackerbox you'd have to live in! And, don't forget the wildfires, earthquakes, mudslides, smog, ----and 33 million people!
RE: Disney World or bust
Check out mousesavers.com for savings ideas.
I have been to WDW several times, and only camped once.It was a good experience, but it can be unbearable in the summer heat, and rains. (I went in Nov. and had great weather)
The best way to go is to stay onsite at a Disney hotel. You can fly in, and get a shuttle to and from WDW, and use Disney transportation. It cuts several days off your vacation length, saving you $100's. It also lets you devote as much time as possible to enjoying your time with the kids.
I fully agree, and I've done it many times. Spending a total of $370 per day to rent an RV once you get to FL is totally foolish. You can stay at the nicest resorts on Disney property for less than that, and at the All Star resorts for WAY less than that. Hope your trip pans out for you and you enjoy every minute of it!!
RE: Shifting in and out of Neutral to save gas with Sprinter...
If I had a motorhome that already got 22mpg, I'd think twice about doing anything that might be illegal, or worse yet damaging to any part of my vehicle. If 22mpg isn't enough, maybe buying a Prius and staying at Motel 6's would be a better option!!.............:C
